Ultraflora Immune Enhance is specifically formulated to support gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), which comprises approximately 70% of your body's immune defenses and plays a crucial role in protecting against pathogens while maintaining tolerance to beneficial bacteria and food particles. When GALT function becomes impaired, it can lead to chronic digestive disturbances, reduced secretory IgA production, and increased susceptibility to infections and inflammatory conditions.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LGG®) has been extensively studied for its immune-modulating properties within the GALT system. Research demonstrates that L. rhamnosus enhances immune responses by increasing the number of TGF-β secreting regulatory T (Treg) cells in lymph nodes, which are essential for maintaining immune balance and preventing excessive inflammatory responses [39]. Additionally, this strain increases Treg cells and subsequent IL-10 activation, supporting crucial immune regulation and control mechanisms that help maintain gut homeostasis [39].

Lactobacillus plantarum (HEAL 9) works synergistically with other lactobacillus strains to provide comprehensive GALT support. Clinical studies show that L. plantarum strongly stimulates macrophages to produce high levels of interleukin IL-12, which promotes Th1-mediated immune responses including enhanced T cell production [39]. This strain also induces immunoregulatory cytokines that help reduce inflammatory responses associated with infectious stimuli, while promoting the production of regulatory T cells in gut mesenteric lymph nodes to enhance overall immunity and immune regulation [39][40].

Lactobacillus paracasei (8700:2) complements the immune-supporting actions of L. plantarum through its demonstrated ability to work synergistically in supporting GALT function. Together with L. plantarum, this strain has been shown to promote Treg cell production in gut mesenteric lymph nodes, enhance general immunity and immune regulation, and increase short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) levels including acetate, propionate, and butyrate, along with total bifidobacterial counts [39][40]. These SCFAs are particularly important as they recruit regulatory T cells to diminish inflammatory responses and induce the expression of antimicrobial peptides to fight infections, while supporting the colonic mucus barrier that houses the gut's main immune antibody, secretory IgA.
