RejuvaCalm Forte targets sympathetic nervous system (SNS) hyperactivation, a condition where the body's 'fight-or-flight' response remains pathologically upregulated, releasing excessive noradrenaline and preventing proper relaxation even when stressors subside.
Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) serves as a cornerstone ingredient, working through its flavonoids chrysin and vitexin to enhance GABA activity in the brain by binding to receptors and inhibiting GABA breakdown, thereby increasing inhibitory signaling that dampens neuronal excitability in stress-related brain regions and reduces SNS outflow [60]. Clinical evidence demonstrates remarkable efficacy, with a 4-week trial on 36 patients showing that 45 drops per day of Passiflora incarnata extract (equivalent to 250 mg capsules) reduced anxiety scores by 68%, matching pharmaceutical oxazepam's 70% reduction while causing less impairment of job performance [61][62].
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) contributes through compounds including rosmarinic acid, flavonoids, and essential oils that enhance the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA by preventing its breakdown and directly binding to GABA receptors, producing effects similar to mild anxiolytic medications. Studies in young adults using single doses ranging from 300 to 1600 mg showed that lemon balm increased self-rated calmness and reduced stress-induced anxiety, with benefits most consistently observed at the 300 mg and 600 mg doses [56].
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) provides additional nervous system support through its main active constituents linalool and linalyl acetate, which modulate calcium channels in neurons, reducing calcium influx and limiting the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as noradrenaline. This action quiets overactive signaling in stress-related brain circuits and helps lower SNS outflow [59]. A clinical trial involving 121 participants with generalised anxiety disorder demonstrated that 160 mg of lavender oil taken for 10 weeks produced a marked 60% reduction in anxiety scores and achieved complete anxiety remission in 46% of participants [58].
Magnolia (Magnolia officinalis) and Ziziphus (Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa) round out the formula with their traditional calming properties, supporting overall nervous system balance and promoting restful sleep patterns that are often disrupted in SNS hyperactivation states.
