Immunobalance Biotic combines five clinically-studied probiotic strains specifically chosen for their ability to regulate mast cell activation and restore immune balance. Mast cells are immune cells that release histamine and other inflammatory mediators when activated, leading to symptoms ranging from digestive issues to skin reactions, respiratory problems, and neurological symptoms. This targeted probiotic blend works through multiple mechanisms to stabilize these overactive immune responses and promote tolerance rather than reactivity.

Lactobacillus paracasei (LP-33) demonstrates remarkable efficacy in allergic conditions through its ability to inhibit mast cell degranulation and reduce histamine release. This strain suppresses Th2 cytokines like IL-4 and IL-5 that drive allergic inflammation, while enhancing protective Th1 immune responses by increasing IL-12 production. Clinical evidence from a randomized controlled trial involving 425 adults with persistent allergic rhinitis showed that 2 billion CFU/day of LP-33 for five weeks significantly improved quality of life scores and reduced ocular symptoms when used alongside antihistamines [37]. In a separate study of 90 adults with house-dust mite allergy, 10 billion CFU/day of LP-33 for 30 days led to significant reductions in overall symptom scores while the placebo group experienced worsening symptoms.

Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium breve work synergistically to suppress Th2-associated cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-5 while enhancing anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10 and TGF-β. B. longum specifically inhibits mast cell degranulation, limiting histamine release and alleviating allergic symptoms, while B. breve reduces IL-5 and IgE levels involved in allergic inflammation. Clinical studies demonstrate that B. longum and B. breve in combination significantly improved allergic rhinitis symptoms in children with notable quality of life improvements [3]. B. breve alone at doses of 1-10 billion CFU per day reduced systemic Th2 cytokines and improved peak expiratory flow in asthma patients after just 4 weeks [3].

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) stands out for its potent ability to decrease systemic IgE levels, a key immunoglobulin involved in allergen sensitization and mast cell activation. This well-studied strain promotes the development and function of regulatory T cells (Tregs) by upregulating their master transcription factor, helping to recalibrate immune responses from reactive Th2 profiles toward balanced, tolerant responses. LGG also strengthens intestinal barrier integrity by promoting tight junction protein expression, preventing allergen translocation that could trigger unnecessary immune activation. Clinical evidence shows that 2 billion CFU per day for five weeks increased regulatory T cells and IL-10 production in adults [38], while 20 billion CFU per day reduced eczema incidence by 23% and showed even greater long-term benefits with a 32% reduction compared to controls [37].

Lactobacillus fermentum completes this targeted blend by suppressing Th2-dominant immune skewing while enhancing production of anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-10 and TGF-β that promote immune tolerance. This strain inhibits IgE production and mast cell activation, directly addressing the root mechanisms of hypersensitivity reactions. When combined with L. paracasei at 2 billion CFU daily for 12 weeks, L. fermentum demonstrated significant improvements in asthma severity, increased peak expiratory flow, and reduced serum IgE levels [3]. Together, these five strains create a comprehensive approach to mast cell stabilization, working through complementary pathways to reduce inappropriate immune activation, strengthen gut barrier function, and restore the balanced immune tolerance essential for long-term symptom relief.
