GIT Immunobiotic is specifically formulated to support gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), which comprises approximately 70% of your body's immune defenses and plays a crucial role in protecting against pathogens while maintaining tolerance to beneficial bacteria and food particles. When GALT function becomes impaired, it can lead to chronic digestive disturbances, recurrent infections, and compromised immune responses throughout the gastrointestinal tract.

L-glutamine serves as a critical fuel source for immune cells within the GALT system. Lymphocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages utilize glutamine to support their division, function, and survival, while also supporting the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins required for lymphocyte proliferation and communication [33]. This amino acid is particularly important for individuals following plant-based diets who may have limited dietary sources of glutamine from animal proteins.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) provides comprehensive immunological support as a beneficial yeast with far-reaching immune actions. This probiotic strain increases the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) such as butyrate, which induces intestinal epithelial cell secretion of mucus constituents, bacteriocins, and antimicrobial peptides to support GALT immune function. On an immunological level, Saccharomyces boulardii stimulates the production of secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), a critical component of mucosal immunity that enhances defense against microbial toxins and helps prevent pathogen colonization. Additionally, it produces anti-inflammatory factors that modulate immune responses and maintain mucosal homeostasis [38].

Pectin contributes to the overall fiber content of the formulation, supporting the beneficial bacterial populations that are essential for GALT function. High-fiber components help increase the abundance of Bacteroidetes, an important group of gut bacteria that supports T-cell mediated immune responses and may help activate immune cells like macrophages in the gut. High-fiber intake is associated with increased numbers of M cells in lymphoid tissue, which helps the immune system respond more effectively to microorganisms entering the gut. The production of SCFAs through fiber fermentation is known to recruit regulatory T (Treg) cells to diminish inflammatory responses and induce the expression of antimicrobial peptides to fight infections [30].

Slippery elm (Ulmus rubra) stem bark inner powder is traditionally recognized for its mucilaginous properties and soothing effects on the digestive tract. This herb provides a protective coating that may help support the integrity of the intestinal mucus barrier, which is essential for housing secretory IgA and beneficial bacteria necessary for optimal GALT function.
