BioMatrix supports gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) function through a targeted blend of amino acids that address the foundational building blocks of intestinal immune defense. GALT comprises approximately 70% of the body's immune system and relies on specialized structures like Peyer's patches, the lamina propria, and mesenteric lymph nodes to protect against pathogens while maintaining tolerance to beneficial bacteria and food particles.

L-glutamine serves as a critical fuel source for immune cells within the GALT system. Lymphocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages utilize glutamine to support their division, function and survival, while also enabling the synthesis of nucleic acids and other proteins required for lymphocyte proliferation and communication [33]. This amino acid is particularly important for individuals following plant-based diets who may have reduced intake from animal protein sources.

Threonine, proline, and serine form the peptide backbone essential for creating mucin, the gel-like substance that gives mucus its protective thickness and integrity. Threonine is especially critical as an essential amino acid that cannot be synthesized by the body, while proline and serine can be produced from threonine. Research demonstrates that threonine-deficient diets reduce mucin production, whereas supplemental support increases goblet cell numbers and enhances mucus secretion [32]. This increased mucin production provides adequate placement for secretory IgA (sIgA), the gut's primary immune antibody that blocks pathogen adherence, neutralizes toxins, and helps control microbial balance.

N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG) provides structural support for the intestinal lining and mucus layer, working synergistically with the amino acid complex to maintain the physical barrier that houses immune factors. Together, these ingredients support the complex interplay between structural integrity and immune function that defines optimal GALT performance, helping to restore the gut's ability to distinguish between harmful pathogens and beneficial substances while maintaining appropriate immune responses.
